Transforming food systems requires honoring and integrating the traditional and regenerative practices that Indigenous Peoples have cultivated for centuries. Indigenous Peoples’ Knowledge Systems are living traditions passed through rituals, ceremonies, and oral storytelling.
These knowledge systems—rooted in deep observation, spiritual connection, and cultural continuity—offer powerful models for sustainability and resilience.
In 2023, we launched a Collective Inquiry on Traditional Wisdom for Conscious Food Systems to explore how Indigenous Peoples’ perspectives and inner capacities can shape regenerative food systems.
Throughout 2024, regional dialogues deepened this work.
The Learning Report and Case Studies Collection (released in March 2025) compile generous contributions by Indigenous leaders, knowledge holders and wisdom keepers from around the world. They highlight the sacredness of food, culture as key dimension of food sovereignty and sustainability, the preservation and transmission of Indigenous Peoples’ knowledge systems, and the transformative power of intercultural collaboration.
